# Nationaliteit van Kinderen bij Internationale Scheiding

Nationaliteit en paspoorten van kinderen bij internationale scheidingen.

## Behoud van Nationaliteit

De scheiding van ouders verandert niets aan de nationaliteit van het kind. Een Belgisch kind blijft Belgisch, ongeacht waar het na scheiding gaat wonen. Nationaliteit is een persoonlijk recht dat niet afhankelijk is van het huwelijk van de ouders.

## Dubbele Nationaliteit

Kinderen met dubbele nationaliteit behouden beide nationaliteiten na scheiding. Dit kan voordelen bieden (recht om in beide landen te wonen) maar ook complicaties (militaire dienstplicht in sommige landen).

## Paspoorten en Identiteitsdocumenten

Voor het aanvragen of vernieuwen van een kinderpaspoort is toestemming van beide gezagsouders nodig. Bij conflict kan de rechter vervangende toestemming verlenen. Dit geldt ook voor buitenlandse paspoorten.
