# Internationale Kinderontvoering: Verdrag van Den Haag

Wat te doen als uw ex het kind meeneemt naar het buitenland zonder toestemming.

## Wat is Internationale Kinderontvoering

Er is sprake van internationale kinderontvoering wanneer een ouder het kind meeneemt naar of achterhoudt in een ander land zonder toestemming van de andere gezagsouder. Dit is strafbaar en er bestaan internationale verdragen om snelle terugkeer te bewerkstelligen.

## Het Verdrag van Den Haag

België is partij bij het Haags Kinderontvoeringsverdrag. Dit verdrag zorgt voor snelle terugkeer van het kind naar het land van gewoonlijk verblijf. De procedure duurt in principe maximaal 6 weken, maar kan langer duren in de praktijk.

## Stappenplan

1) Dien onmiddellijk een verzoek in bij de Centrale Autoriteit (FOD Justitie in België). 2) Zij contacteren de Centrale Autoriteit in het andere land. 3) Een rechtbank aldaar behandelt het teruggeleidingsverzoek. 4) Bij toewijzing wordt het kind teruggebracht.
