Onderhoudsgeld wordt jaarlijks aangepast aan het indexcijfer van de consumptieprijzen, niet aan de gezondheidsindex. Met het cijfer van september 2026 en een rekenvoorbeeld ziet u meteen wat de aanpassing voor uw eigen dossier betekent.

## Indexcijfer september 2026: wat betekent dat voor uw onderhoudsgeld?

De consumptieprijsindex van september 2026 bedraagt 104,42 in de basis 2025 = 100 en 141,28 in de basis 2013 = 100. De gezondheidsindex van dezelfde maand staat op 103,76, maar dat cijfer speelt hier geen rol: onderhoudsgeld wordt niet aan de gezondheidsindex aangepast, wel aan het indexcijfer van de consumptieprijzen. Tegenover september 2025 is dat 4,7 procent (basis 2013 = 100).

Een voorbeeld. Wie een bijdrage van 300 euro per maand betaalt met als aanvangsindex het cijfer van september 2021, komt nu uit op: 300 × 141,28 ÷ 112,55 = 376,58 euro per maand. Beide cijfers staan in dezelfde basis (2013 = 100); tussen basisjaren wordt nooit omgerekend.

De aanpassing gebeurt op de verjaardag van de beslissing of van de akte, om de twaalf maanden, aan het indexcijfer van de consumptieprijzen (art. 203quater, § 1 oud BW). De aanvangsindex verschilt naargelang het gaat om een bijdrage voor de kinderen dan wel om persoonlijk onderhoudsgeld tussen ex-echtgenoten (art. 301, § 6 oud BW). Die regel is niet van openbare orde: partijen mogen er bij overeenkomst van afwijken (art. 203quater, § 1, vierde lid, oud BW).
